Welcome to the website of the Third International Conference, Nietzsche: Philology, Philosophy and Criticism of Culture, which has been organized by the Sociedad Española de estudios sobre Friedrich Nietzsche (SEDEN) in collaboration with Seminario Nietzsche Complutense (SNC), and with the participation of the Departments of Philosophy from Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) and Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM). The Conference will take place on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th days of the month of April, 2014, at UCM campus, Department of Philosophy.

The Third International Conference, SEDEN has chosen the following three central themes that appear in the texts studied by our research group, according to the current edition of Nietzsche´s Complete Works: Philology, a topic in which Nietzsche studied and he wrote his first work in criticism of modern culture; Philosophy, a study of the different powers and forces inherent in the evolution of ideas and events that can be found in history; and the Criticism of Culture, the task of unmasking the modern european with his underlying prejudices and justifications, witness the sinking of the passive nihilism. In these early stages of development, the originality of Nietzsche’s thought focuses on an intuition: to overcome the grandeur and serenity of a superior culture and to get over the problem of nihilism, it requires the recovery of a tragic wisdom inspired by the ancient Greeks.
